Podcasts: The Shows We Have on Rotation

Podcasts: The Shows We Have on Rotation

Back in my uni days when I was working in data entry, podcasts were everything. They got me through my day without me losing my mind, and kept me entertained while I worked.

Today, while Kane sometimes listens to podcasts while he works (when he’s designing) I squeeze them in whenever I’m driving to the gym or grocery store or when I’m cleaning the house. I figure I may as well learn something while I get my errands out of the way!

While we started listening as a way to pass time, we have learnt so much from the podcasts we tune into, and now they have become invaluable in inspiring ideas, changing our mindset and accelerating our business knowledge and skills. If you’re not already tuning into podcasts, there is a wealth of information in these shows that can propel your business and we would highly recommend tuning into a few and seeing what resonates.

Between Kane and I, we’ve put together some of our favourite podcasts and will continue to add to the list as we discover new shows. Here they are (in no particular order).

1. Smart Passive Income

Pat Flynn’s podcast was one of the first I started listening to. SPI is a great mix of Pat’s personal tips for earning a passive income as well as interviews with other entrepreneurs about their experiences building, marketing and growing an online business.

2. The Tim Ferriss Show

Tim Ferriss is the mind behind the bestselling book ‘The 4 Hour Work Week’. His podcast, The Tim Ferriss Show, focuses on the tips and tricks of people who are at the top of their game across a range of industries, from investing to pro sports.

3. Building a Story Brand with Donald Miller

So much branding and copywriting goodness all packed into one entertaining podcast! A mix of interviews about branding, marketing and business, this is one of my favourite go-to's for practical, simple advice.

4. The School of Greatness with Lewis Howes

Which characteristics, actions or ideas lead to greatness? Lewis Howes shares the stories of a diverse range of people, interviewing change-makers and inspiring business minds from a range of industries to find out what makes people great.

5. The Goal Digger Podcast

We’ve spoken about Jenna Kutcher on this blog before, and while her Goal Digger podcast is still relatively new, she’s creating some great content, specifically targeted at female entrepreneurs. Expect a mix of personal stories, actionable advice and interviews with other girl bosses.

6. Online Marketing Made Easy with Amy Porterfield

Amy Porterfield’s podcast has five star reviews, and it’s easy to see why. As the name suggests, Amy’s goal is to simplify the world of online marketing. She provides clear and actionable advice for people starting their online business and interviews leading business and marketing experts like Marie Forleo and John Lee Dumas.

7. Entrepreneur on Fire

Speaking of John Lee Dumas, his daily podcast Entrepreneur on Fire interviews big name successful entrepreneurs like Gary Vaynerchuk and Tony Robbins to find out about their successes and failures as well as their advice for building your dream business.

8. Foundr Magazine Podcast

Host Nathan Chan interviews entrepreneurs for Foundr Magazine to answer your big questions about starting a business and provides actionable advice relating to scaling your business, attracting new customers and earning a living from your own business.

9. StartUp Podcast

This high rated show shares the behind the scenes stories of what it was really like to start Gimlet, a podcasting company. It is hosted by former This American Life producer and CO of Gimlet, Alex Blumberg.

10. Social Media Marketing

Social Media Examiner’s Michael Stelzner’s podcast provides actionable tips for levelling up your social media marketing efforts through his interviews with businesses who are killing it online, as well as social media marketing pros.

11. Youpreneuer FM

Perfect for consultants, bloggers, podcasters, freelancers and solopreneurs, Chris Ducker’s podcast hones in on creating and building a personal brand. He interviews entrepreneurs and shares his advice as a best selling author and keynote speaker.
